Gloria Jean Thompson was born on March 19,1960 to the late Mose and Ruby Thompson. She grew up in Skene, Mississippi and later moved with her family to Cleveland. Gloria, affectionately known as Glory or Lady G to her friends and family, believed in helping her family and giving her time and talents as she was needed.

Glory was educated in Shaw and Cleveland schools. In 1979, she graduated from East Side High School. While in high school, she played softball and basketball. After high school, she attended Coahoma Junior College. Later in life, she returned there and  received her associates degree in Allied Health.

Glory worked numerous jobs in the field of healthcare. She worked as a physical therapy tech at Bolivar Medical Center along side many great physical therapists who became her family. After leaving  Bolivar Medical Center, she worked at Avritt Medical and as a  private sitter so she could continue caring for others.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a special nephew, DeMarcus Thompson.

Glory leaves to cherish her memories, a daughter, Geisha (Gregory) Forrest, three grandchildren: Brianna, Braxtyn, and Gregory, Jr., a great grandson: Bobby Jones, III; four sisters: Helen Evans,  Leradell Thompson both of Chicago, Illinois, Geraldine Keaton of Detroit, Michigan, and Justine Thompson of Cleveland,  Mississippi; three brothers: Milton (Wanda) Thompson, Gregory Thompson, and Mose (Darlene) Thompson, III all of Cleveland, Mississippi; two aunts: Mamie Thompson of Cleveland, Mississippi and Dorothy Richardson of Flint, Michigan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
